I am an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor who has integrated diverse wellness approaches into my practice. In my role as a licensed clinical social worker, I integrated yoga into my clinical work with active duty Airman who were participating in an intensive Return to Duty Program. As a trainer, I developed a provider resiliency course as part of staff development at Virginia's Department of Juvenile Justice. There I created a 12 hour curriculum called WOW: Wellness Opportunities from Within. The WOW experience integrated the use of aquatic techniques for relaxation, yoga, nutrition, low impact cardio, strength training, Pilates, and the Alexander Technique into a comprehensive wellness program for helping professionals. I have 40 hours of training in Watsu, an aquatic form of bodywork and 40 hours of training in yoga from American Family Fitness in Richmond, Virginia. I have an additional 15 hours of yoga training from Warriors at Ease, an organization dedicated to bringing yoga to our active duty and veteran populations.
