Tony is the Founder/CEO of The CIHA. As an integrative psychotherapist, he specializes in working with traumatic stress and co-occurring disorders, specializing in substance use disorders and sexual addiction, with more than a decade's worth of experience combining mind/body and spiritual approaches in psychotherapy. Tony is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy) practitioner, trained in residence by Laurel Parnell, PhD. He is proficient in Laurel Parnell's model in Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) as well as the Flash Technique for EMDR, and is certified by the EMDR International Association as an EMDR Certified Therapist and Consultant-in-Training.
In his work, Tony integrates EMDR with Mindfulness meditation (Vipassanā), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Morita Therapy, the Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra model, and knowledge of Integrative Medicine. Tony is passionate about working with expats, bi-cultural individuals, immigrants, and public safety professionals (fire, EMS, law enforcement, military, corrections, etc) and their family members. In addition to clinical duties, Tony lectures in the Behavioral Science and Counseling programs at Bellevue University. He has held additional academic appointments with the Purdue University system, Union Institute & University, and other universities. As an OEF veteran of the United States Air Force, the founding Past President of ACA-Vermont, and former ESL teacher, Tony engages the world outside of his office as a father in a bi-cultural/bi-racial family, hiker, musician, and novice angler.
